Pick Up Stix Youth Lacrosse Foundation began as just an idea in the spring of 2024 when Tanner was informed his alma mater (West York Area School District), no longer had a youth lacrosse program. After learning this, he decided it was time for a change. Tanner wanted to bring back the program that helped shaped his lacrosse career and overall life events. The main hurdle he needed to jump was getting participation, but lacrosse can be a costly sport so he needed to divide a way to get kids on the field for as little cost as possible. From there, Tanner was able to raise $4,000 in the short span of 3-weeks through the help of the York County community and a few local businesses. The funds raised were enough to purchase 20 full sets of equipment which included helmets, gloves, sticks, elbow & shoulder pads.
With the first clinic being a success, it sparked the idea to keep growing and branching out to other districts who are in need of a lacrosse program. Our goal is to provide as many kids with free gear as possible, while helping build youth programs thorough the state of PA and beyond.
Our foundation is committed to creating a positive and inclusive environment where kids can learn and grow through the game of lacrosse regardless of their situation.
